Established in 1976. C.J. primarily built race engines, but saw the need for a better race car. In 1979, he built his first stock car. After the first car, he visualized a way to turn late model stock car racing COMPLETELY around.

On the cutting edge, Rayburn was the first to make dramatic changes to the dirt late model, revolutionizing the sport. This was one of the biggest breakthroughs in racing history. In his first year as a late model car builder, a Rayburn machine drove to victory in the World 100 at Ohio's Eldora Speedway -- the Indy 500 of late model racing.

Since, Rayburn race cars lay claim to domination of the sport, Including a 1-2 finish in the Eldora Million (the richest payout in short track racing history).
